H1 saw the Atende Group generate consolidated income from sales at the level of PLN 114,660, i.e. 23% better than in the same period last year. Therefore, the Group earned better (by 18%) gross profit (at the level of PLN 31,214 thousand), its EBITDA was higher by 121% y/y (PLN 3,791 PLN). The Group generated a relatively small net loss of PLN 1,024 thousand (as compared to PLN 1,795 thousand in 2017). Higher sales were reported by both subsidiaries (by 45% y/y) and the parent company, Atende (by 15% y/y).0.11 MB Download0.35 MB Download
The seasonality of our business is the reason why the first half of the year usually ends with weaker results. Therefore, in spite of a small loss in H1 2018 we anticipate good Group results for the whole year. Even today the rising contribution of our subsidiaries achieving good results and the portfolio of signed and potential contracts in the dominant company (to be executed in Q4) are the factors indicative of that - says Roman Szwed, President of the Management Board of Atende S.A.
Atende, the dominant company, achieved a better (by 28% y/y) gross result in sales. Our net profit of PLN 3,680 thousand was caused mainly by significant financial revenues (dividend payouts from the subsidiaries). Among subsidiaries, Sputnik Software, Atende Software and TrustIT had a positive impact on the results, while the impact of other companies was negative.
The telecommunications and media sector, which is a key market for the Group, accounted for the largest portion of the Atende Group’s sales in the 1st half of 2018. The increase in consolidated revenue on sales in the 1st half of 2018, as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, was primarily due to the public sector, where revenue increased by PLN 19.4 million y/y (up to the level of PLN 19.4 million y/y). To a large extent, this increase was the result of Atende's projects for uni-formed services, as well as projects implemented for local government units by Sputnik Software. In turn, in the 1st half of 2018 Atende Medica implemented mainly projects won in 2017, co-financed from EU funds, for the computerization of hospitals and medical facilities, and recorded an increase in sales.
One of Atende Group’s strategic goals is a significant increase of the share of sales of innovative pro-priety software and services based on that software in the total revenues and margins of the Group. Therefore, the recent successes of the Group in this field are quite encouraging – adds Roman Szwed:
In July 2018, Atende completed one of the first commercial implementations of the so-called durable medium solutions based on the block-chain technology in Poland. The implementation was carried out for TCUW (Toruń Shared Services Center) which provides shared financial, accounting, payroll and tax services for nearly 80 organizational units of the Municipality of Toruń. ChainDoc, Atende's proprietary block-chain-based solution, supports TCUW's goal by authenticating documents submitted by TCUW electronically, which reduces the need to use paper or implement other cost-intensive solutions.
The last half of the year was important for innovative projects also in subsidiaries. Atende Software carried out for TVN S.A. a project called Player+ BOX, delivering software for a STB class customer de-vice (a set-top box). Phoenix Systems successfully completed the certification process for the smart gas meter developed for Apator Metrix, the largest manufacturer of gas meters in Poland and a leading one in Europe (with a view to selling the device in Italy). Energy Data Lab signed a three-year con-sortium agreement with Kantar Polska S.A. regarding
the joint creation and sale of a product called "TGI smart" used to monitor consumption of goods with regards to more than 300 product categories and 3500 different brands in Poland. Company 2 Cus-tomer Care acquired its first customers, including Lotos, for the proprietary eCars software used for the management of the recharging infrastructure for electric cars, and it plans further expansion in foreign markets. OmniChip is finalizing works on the commercialisation of the proprietary integrated circuit protecting against card theft. TrustIT increased - as compared to the previous year - its reve-nue (by 20%) from the provision of modern IT outsourcing services (of permanent nature).
Atende S.A. is one of the leading IT companies in Poland, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2012. It has been implementing technologically advanced IT projects for over 25 years. We specialise in providing IT infrastructure services, network integration, IT outsourcing, cloud computing and cyber security. As a Capital Group, Atende ad-dresses its dedicated offer to telecommunications operators, public administration bodies, the medical sector, the energy sector and the financial industry.

Atende has signed a contract related to one of the first Polish implementations of durable medium solutions based on the blockchain technology. The decision on the pioneering implementation of the innovative so-lution to authenticate transmitted documents transmitted was made by the Toruń Shared Services Centre (TCUW) – a local government organisational unit of the City of Toruń.0.09 MB Download0.2 MB Download
TCUW provides shared financial, accounting, payroll and tax services for nearly 80 organizational units of the Municipality of Toruń. The main objective of TCUW is to increase the operational efficiency and optimise the costs of servicing the units covered by the shared service and reporting to the City of Toruń. ChainDoc, Atende's proprietary block-chain-based solution, supports TCUW's goal by authenticating documents submitted by TCUW electronically, which reduces the need to use paper or implement other cost-intensive solutions.
Properly dedicated IT systems enabling electronic circulation of documents and their approval between served units and serving units are quite essential for the performance and efficiency of the Shared Services Centre, says Paweł Modrzyński, Director of TCUW.
ChainDoc was integrated with the ISOD platform (Internet Document Circulation System) – an existing solution previously created for TCUW, which aims to exchange electronic documents between TCUW and its clients. Financial and accounting documents, as well as payroll documents going through the system are recorded by ChainDoc with the use of the block-chain technology on a durable medium which makes it possible to secure any document containing an electronic signature - e.g. against modification by third parties.
The Atende's solution eliminates the necessity to transfer documents in paper form. Thanks to
ChainDoc, documents are time marked - and it is perfectly clear when they were put in the system, and they are undisputed in their form and content - due to their registration and verification – says Jacek Szczepański, Opera-tions Vice-President in Atende S.A.
Previously, in August 2018, Atende’s ChainDoc was used by ShareSpace, a Polish startup and online platform, to rent out service and co-working offices, in order to ensure security of the rental transactions between Busi-nessLink and Ricoh.
The ChainDoc solution has been designed so that it can be integrated with virtually any system. Apart from document circulation, it is used in CRM systems (recording the moments when the actual contact with the cus-tomer took place), ERP systems (recording scans of documents, contracts, etc.), technological manufacturing processes (recording the subsequent stages of the process), etc. ChainDoc is also a particularly valuable solu-tion for those entities that send documents to end customers on a durable medium (insurers, banks, telecom operators).
Currently, the block-chain technology is mainly associated mainly with crypto-currencies, which deprives it - to an extent - with reliability. However, the “chain of blocks" technology will soon be put to a series of applica-tions in virtually every industry dealing with information processing, for example financial institutions, insur-ance companies, telecommunications operators, or gas and energy providers.

In August 2018, ShareSpace, a Polish startup providing innovative technological solutions to tenants in the scope of rapid access and management of the process of renting service and co-working offices all over Poland, managed to have a transaction carried out, using the block-chain technology based on an Atende’s solution.0.11 MB Download0.36 MB Download
Responding to the expectations of ShareSpace online platform users (freelancers, startups, small and medium-sized enter-prises, and corporations), the innovative block-chain solution was used to ensure the security of the rental transaction, the validity of commercial and legal terms and conditions, and the reduction of costs of intermediation and consulting. The access to, verification and validation of documents and commercial arrangements take place on the basis of a decentral-ised platform, which significantly reduces the time of negotiation and retains - at the same time - the security guarantees of the entire online process, even with the involvement of many actors.
The first transaction was possible thanks to the commitment of a pioneering working group. A detailed description of test scenarios and application test cases verifying the consistency of the block-chain based transaction with functional re-quirements were ensured by Atende S.A. (listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange), a company which specialises in providing advanced IT solutions within the scope of IT infrastructure and innovative software.
- Block-chain in the process of executing rental agreements is of particular importance. Thanks to the attributes of invaria-bility of information saved in the block-chain, all parties to the transaction are confident about the defined arrangements. Such a method of recording is deemed to satisfy the requirements of the so-called durable medium. In addition, the Atende's solution presupposes the existence of the so-called trusted hubs that raise security of the transaction even more. Involved in the undertaking under analysis were the block-chain networks of both ShareSpace and Atende, as well as a trusted hub of Hogan Lovells, a law firm - comments Michał Legumina, Head of Innovations and Development in Atende S.A.
The Systemic Research Institute at the Polish Academy of Science, responsible for the development of science in Poland (dealing with, inter alia, research related to IT, mathematics, and econometrics), and a leading block-chain technology expert (professor Stefan Dziembowski from the IT Institute, Department of Mathematics, IT and Mechanics in the Warsaw University) supervised the transaction.
The international company Hogan Lovells was responsible for managing the legal basis of the transaction and making sure that the project was carried out in accordance with applicable laws. The international consultancy Cushman & Wakefield was engaged in the transaction with regards to the business and market analysis, making sure that the highest real estate rental standards were maintained.
One of the parties to the transaction was Business Link – the largest co-working space operator in Poland offering access to the business community of the startups and corporations. - For Business Link, professionalism and innovativeness are top priorities, so a block-chain contract was sort of natural to us. Thanks to the automation of the entire process, not only did we save time, but also enabled professionals to have easier access to our network of 17 unique spaces located in the largest cities in Poland – says Maciej Król, Growth Director in Business Link.
The tenant was a company called Ricoh. Thanks to the rental transaction on the platform, carried out by Ricoh in just 10 minutes (from search activation to the signing of the agreement), the company obtained access to the network of tenants of Business Link spaces in Wrocław and other Polish cities. Thanks to delivered tools, Ricoh, a leader of solutions supporting modern working places, was not only able to use the block-chain technology speeding up the signing of the contract, but was also provided with access to the Business Link community, which increases the potential sales market for our services and products - says Rafał Gutkowski, Office Services Director responsible for the transaction on the side of Ricoh Polska.
The use of the block-chain technology in the real estate market is quite unprecedented in Poland, while securing the integ-rity of commercial and legal terms sets out a precedent globally.

In view of the dynamic increase in internet traffic, the needs of mobile operators are growing. Atende S.A., as a long term technological partner of the biggest operators, has been actively supporting them in the development process. In the first half of the year, the sector’s sales increased by more than 40% vs 2017.0.11 MB Download0.17 MB Download
Large projects for mobile operators were related to the development of concepts, selection of own services and Atende's software, and the components and delivery of devices for the purpose of infrastructure development.
The main technology partner of Atende in terms of solutions for mobile operators is Cisco Systems whose solutions are widely used to develop operators’ network infrastructure in key internet based traffic exchange systems. Cisco solutions are supplemented by the proprietary software of Atende, including within the scope of PCRF (Policy and Charging Rules Function) and SMaCS (Service Management and Charging System) - to manage internet access ser-vices offered to the mobile network customers.
26 years ago, we connected the first Polish companies to the internet. On the basis of an extensive integration expe-rience, we created SMaCS – the only software of this kind developed by a Polish company - enabling operators to cre-ate new services and deliver them to the market fast and cost effectively, says Andrzej Jaśkiewicz, Director of the Mobile Solutions Department in Atende. In a highly competitive market of mobile operators, such factors as flexibility and time-to-market often determine success or failure.
Atende specialises also in the design and development of the packet network core (the so-called access gates), based on the latest virtual Cisco Ultra-M solution, as well as in the provision of maintenance services and functional development services within the scope of the Cisco EPC system (Cisco Evolsed Packet Core). The EPC system is one of the most important components of the operator’s network, being the “heart” of the cell network data transmission system.
Atende engineers have unique competences as regards the building and maintaining packet networks. We have man-aged to adjust our skills to the needs of mobile operators, which is why we have actively engaged in the development of the transmission networks, offering our partners the most recent online services – adds Jaśkiewicz.

In the first quarter of 2018, in comparison with the results from the first quarter of the previous year, the Atende Group achieved much better revenue; the operating and net results were recorded at a similar level. Sales revenue increased by 34% y/y and amounted to PLN 57,120 thousand. Higher sales were reported by both subsidiaries (by 62% y/y) and the parent company, Atende (by 25% y/y). At the same time, we recorded an increase of the consolidated margin on sales for subscription-based services by 11% y/y, and the margin generated covered 49% of the overhead costs of the Group.0.07 MB Download0.15 MB Download
Owing to higher sales in the first quarter of 2018, gross profit on sales was higher by 5% than in the first quarter of the previous year and amounted to PLN 15,020 thousand. The net result was similar to the result for the previous year (loss of PLN 123 thousand as compared to the profit of PLN 17 thousand in the previous year). The companies from the Group are doing increasingly well, contributing to the consolidated margin in almost the same degree (48%) as the parent company.
Due to the seasonal nature of sales, which is characteristic of the IT market, the results of the Group in the first quarter are, as usual, the lowest. It should be stressed that the numbers of newly signed contracts and new custom-ers are high, which should bring good sales results in the following quarters. We are particularly happy about the growth of the margin on sales of subscription-based services, as it testifies to the successful performance of one of the strategic goals of the Group defined in the Strategy adopted at the beginning of 2018 — says Roman Szwed, President of the Management Board of Atende S.A.
Sector-wise, the biggest contribution to the growth of the revenue level of the Group was brought by the public sec-tor and the industry, trade and services sector. Revenue from customers of the public sector increased by 148% y/y (to PLN 22.8 m). This growth is a consequence of Atende’s constant fulfilment of the strategic assumption to focus in this sector on selected, difficult and technically demanding projects.
The combined impact of subsidiaries on the consolidated profits at operating, gross and net levels, achieved in the first quarter of 2018, was positive. Among subsidiaries, significant positive contribution to the result was brought by Sputnik Software and Atende Software.
The increase in general and administrative costs amounted to 8% y/y and was related to the investment in the de-velopment of the Group's offering. Among other activities, two new departments were established at Atende S.A. — the Innovation and Development Department, which will manufacture products based on blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies, and the Mobile Solutions Department, which will focus on the development of an offering for the telecommunications sector in respect of key mobile technologies.

Medicus Online received positive feedback following integration tests with the P1 System, which verified software of medical units and pharmacies in respect of issuance of e-prescriptions and their collection — announced the Ministry of Health at the end of the last week. Medicus Online is an IT system for the med-ical sector developed by Atende Medica of the Atende Group. Electronic prescriptions will be issued to first patients already in May in Siedlce and Skierniewice. In accordance with the act in force, they are to be implemented for general use starting January, 1st 2020.0.07 MB Download0.14 MB Download
The implementation of the Medicus Online system for management of electronic prescriptions will eliminate the prob-lem of incorrect reading of handwriting, increase patients’ safety through reduction of chances of selling an incorrect medicine, facilitate purchase of medicines in different pharmacies and enable access to the history of prescriptions issued, which will help better coordinate the treatment process — says Tomasz Judycki, member of the Management Board of Atende Medica.
The pilot study of e-prescriptions, coordinated by the Ministry of Health, has been carried out since this year’s mid-February. The Medicus Online system was tested during the e-Prescription Projectathon, which was held on March, 19–20th at the headquarters of the Centre for Healthcare Information Systems. During the Projectathon, the follow-ing aspects were verified, among others: correctness of communication between the P1 platform and systems of ser-vice providers as well as conformity of electronic prescription documents and its collection with IHE Profiles: PRE and DIS as well as HL7 CDA implemented in the P1.
After successful completion of the tests, Medicus Online is included on the list of seven systems ready for the IT management of e-prescriptions in Poland.

5,000 — is the peak number of requests per second handled by the website www.wosp.org.pl during the last Sunday’s Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC). This was possible thanks to the service provided by Atende in the cloud model, known under the CloudiA brand. CloudiA was the technological partner of the Finale already for the third time.0.08 MB Download0.1 MB Download
Each year, approximately 120 thousand volunteers raise money as a part of one-day public collection, organised by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation. The slogan for this year’s — already 22nd — Finale of the GOCC was: “To the rescue!”. On January 12th, the GOCC was raising funds all day long, which will be then used to purchase specialist equipment for children's emergency medicine and providing decent health care for seniors.
During this year’s Finale, Atende was responsible for configuration and maintenance of WAN and LAN networks. Additionally, as a part of the CloudiA service, the company ensured the continuity of high-performance infrastructure and systems for the needs of www.wosp.org.pl and the application for the auctions of The Most Generous Donors. Atende also provided and configured backup servers, computer and network hardware such as firewalls and switches.
The Finale of the GOCC is when the Foundation’s website is most visited. Handling such a heavy traffic is quite a challenge. Atende has been GOCC’s technological partner for three years. Under its brand, CloudiA, the Company offers the services package in an Infrastructure as a Service model and managed services in a cloud model. This year, the website www.wosp.org.pl handled a total of
92 million HTTP requests, including an average of 3,000 requests per second and even more than 5,000 requests per second in peaks. For comparison, during last year’s Finale, the Foundation's website handled 50 million HTTP requests, which amounted to approx. 600 requests per second on average and more than 2,000 in peaks. The total volume of data sent from the GOCC’s website during last Sunday’s Finale exceeded 2.5 TB.
- We are proud to provide the Foundation with the highest-class IT services for another year, thanks to which it is possible to handle such a heavy traffic — said Michał Zgajewski, the Director for Sales to the Financial Sector at Atende S.A. — We know that as the number of donors grows, so does the need for more and more advanced IT tools. As it can be seen, cloud services are the best solution for this type of events – he added.
